Lyon vs Bayern Munich Live

Lyon vs Bayern Munich Live : All the information you need on how and where to watch Olympique Lyon face Bayern Munich in Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final in Lisbon.

Lyon’s Champions League campaign began slowly but has picked up momentum on their route to the second semi-final appearance in their history. The French side needed a late Memphis Depay equaliser to sneak through Group G behind fellow semi-finalists RB Leipzig and few gave them any hope in the knock-out stages. But a triumph on away goals over Juventus saw them reach the quarter finals for the first time since 2010, before a 3-1 win over Manchester City gave this energetic young team a spot in the final four.

They will meet a Bayern Munich side who have looked like Europe’s best for much of the 2019/20 campaign and they have dominated the Champions League so far. They topped their group without dropping a point before dispatching Chelsea 7-1 on aggregate in the last-16, with the irrepressible Robert Lewandowski involved in every goal. But most impressive of all was their dismantling of Lionel Messi’s Barcelona with an astonishing 2-8 victory over the five-time European champions. In doing so, they became the first team in Champions League history to score eight goals in a Champions League knock-out tie and the first to put eight past Barcelona since 1946.

David vs Goliath

Lyon have already eliminated the previous season’s Italian and English Champions in their run to the semi-final but Bayern will be a different proposition. They have already secured a domestic double and are unbeaten in their last 28 matches in all competitions, winning 27 of them. Hansi Flick has won 31 of his 34 games in charge and they are scoring an average of 3.3 goals per game under his leadership. In Robert Lewandowski they have the Champions League’s leading goal-scorer (14) and their total of 39 goals is comfortably clear of second-placed Paris Saint-Germain’s 22.

It is a daunting task for the team who finished seventh in Ligue 1 but they will take confidence from their form against the top sides in recent months. As well as eliminating Juventus and Manchester City they took PSG to penalties in the Coupe de France final, keeping a clean sheet against the French champions. As they showed against City, Lyon can pose a considerable threat on the break with Depay, Houssem Aouar and Moussa Dembélé. Aouar’s five assists puts him level with Lewandowski, Kylian Mbappé and Hakim Ziyech at the top of this season’s standings.

Lyon vs Bayern Live

Lyon vs Bayern Live : The Lyon vs. Bayern Munich live stream tomorrow (Wednesday, Aug. 18) is not what we expected. Yes, while Bayern’s arrival in the semifinals was to be expected, I’ll need to see some evidence if you want to say you knew Olympique Lyonnais was going to dispatch Man City.

So, can Lyon’s 3-5-2 format continue to thrive and break expectations? Or will Bayern make this another “You 8-2 see it” event, as they defeated Barcelona by that same score. That’s what we’re tuning in to find out.

As you might have guessed, the biggest cause for concern on Bayern is that they may have already peaked with that dazzling affair where they scored 8 on Messi’s squad. That being said, Thomas Muller and David Alaba know the pressure on their backs, and the expectations that come when you play a team that won in a surprising upset.

If the Lyon side can remove Boateng and Alaba from their positions, they could open up the field to success. Here’s everything you need to know to watch a Lyon vs Bayern live stream online:

Preview by The Associated Press

GENEVA (AP) — By eliminating wealthier rivals to surprisingly reach the Champions League semifinals, Lyon has followed Ajax last year as an uplifting story for soccer’s most prized club competition.

Lyon has beaten Manchester City and Juventus, one year after Ajax sent Juventus and Real Madrid home early, to make the Champions League seem more vibrant and less of a closed shop than some elite clubs want.

Now Lyon faces the same test Ajax failed — to become the longest-shot European champion in a generation to guarantee a return to next season’s competition.

Their exploits will feed into a revived debate about how to reform UEFA club competitions ahead of the 2024-25 season.

UEFA said Monday talks “will soon restart with all stakeholders, and no decisions have been taken.”

Before the debate stalled last year — when domestic leagues and mid-sized clubs opposed plans favoring a wealthy elite — one idea aired was to reward Champions League semifinalists starting in 2025 with a place in the next group stage.

After a seventh-place finish in the French league, which ended early because of the pandemic, Lyon will miss out on European soccer completely if it doesn’t win the Champions League — which earns an automatic spot in next season’s group stage.

Bayern Munich vs Lyon Live

Bayern Munich vs Lyon Live : Bayern Munich were many people’s favorites to lift this trophy even before the competition resumed, and their imperious performances over the past week have done nothing to change that.

Nobody is really giving Lyon much of a chance here, but then no-one thought Rudi Garcia’s side had much of a chance against Juventus or Manchester City, either, and it certainly didn’t do them any harm.

Victory today would make Garcia just the second French coach in history to take a Ligue 1 side to the final of this tournament, matching the feat of Didier Deschamps in 2004. Bayern coach Hansi Flick, meanwhile, is looking to emulate the treble won by Jupp Heynckes in 2012.

Flick, who’s yet to lose a game in 2020, has Benjamin Pavard available again after the defender missed the Barcelona game due to injury.

The Champions League match between Bayern Munich and Lyon will be broadcast live on CBS. Live streaming is available on CBS All Access, which you can access with your cable or satellite subscriptions, either online or through the CBS All Access app.

This is a repeat of the 2010 semi-final, in which Bayern prevailed 4-0 over two legs.

Barcelona vs Napoli Live

The Champions League is back! Barcelona play Napoli on Saturday with the score set at 1-1 after the first leg.

That first leg in Naples was a tight affair, but Barcelona’s away goal could prove crucial. The winners will face the winners of Bayern vs Chelsea – likely the former, as they hold a 3-0 lead going into their own second leg.

After disappointing league campaigns for both sides – Barça surrendering the title and Napoli finishing all the way down in seventh – they’ll be putting a lot of emphasis on the Champions League to turn their seasons around.

oth Sergio Busquets and Arturo Vidal will miss the game through suspension, while Ousmane Dembele (fitness) and Samuel Umtiti (knee) are both out. Clement Lenglet (groin) and Antoine Griezmann (thigh) are also doubts, but they are both expected to start.

Napoli’s only confirmed absentee is Kostas Manolas (ribs), but Nikola Maksimovic (ankle) and Lorenzo Insigne (adductors) are both doubtful.
Predicted Lineups

Barcelona: Ter Stegen; Semedo, Piqué, Lenglet, Alba; Roberto, Rakitic, De Jong; Messi, Suarez, Griezmann.

Napoli: Ospina; Hysaj, Di Lorenzo, Koulibaly, Mario Rui; Fabian Ruiz, Demme, Zielinski; Callejon Mertens, Insigne.

Barcelona have been pretty disappointing since the restart, surrendering the lead in La Liga to finish a full five points behind champions Real Madrid. Los Cules did end their season with a 5-0 dismantling of Alaves though, so that’s…something.

Napoli have had a generally underwhelming season too, with poor form at the start of the season seeing Carlo Ancelotti sacked. However, Gennaro Gattuso steadied the ship somewhat and won the Coppa Italia just after football’s return, restoring some pride to Naples.

Here’s how each side has fared in their last five outings.

Barcelona

Alaves 0-5 Barcelona (19/07)
Barcelona 1-2 Osasuna (16/07)
Valladolid 0-1 Barcelona (11/07)
Barcelona 1-0 Espanyol (08/07)
Villarreal 1-4 Barcelona (05/07)

Napoli

Napoli 3-1 Lazio (01/08)
Inter 2-0 Napoli (28/07)
Napoli 2-0 Sassuolo (25/07)
Parma 2-1 Napoli (22/07)
Napoli 2-1 Udinese (19/07)

Four-time major champion Brooks Koepka battled throughout the second round to finish with a two-under 68, punctuated by a clutch birdie at the last. Koepka, who has won the last two PGA Championships, is just two off the lead heading into the weekend.

A bevy of up-and-coming Tour stars hope to spoil Koepka’s history-making moment by getting their first taste of major glory. Tommy Fleetwood (six under), Daniel Berger (six under) and Cameron Champ (five under) will try and set up their breakthrough major wins with low rounds on Saturday.

And don’t forget about 2015 PGA champion Jason Day, who has fought off numerous injuries over the years to get his game in fine form just at the right time. Day will also start the third round at six under, within striking distance of Li.

Other fan favorites like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Jordan Spieth will have tee times on the earlier side Saturday, hoping to claw back into contention with stellar rounds on Saturday.

PGA Championship 2020

The 2020 PGA Championship tees off on Thursday at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, California, finally bringing about the first long-awaited major championship of the golf season. This event was originally scheduled to take place in May for the second year in a row—as part of the revised schedule put into place by the PGA last year—but had its start date pushed back to August 6 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The PGA Championship will look far different than organizers initially envisioned when tabbing Harding Park to host its first ever major, most notably due to the lack of spectators that will be in attendance for this tourney. Still, after a three-plus month delay, golf fans are anxious for major championship play to resume and this one should not disappoint thanks to a loaded field featuring all the top golfers. You can find out everything you need to know for the 2020 PGA Championship in the sections below, including a full viewing guide, odds for the field, tee times, pairings and much more.

PGA Championship

PGA Championship Live Stream : PGA Championship 2020, Live updates from opening major of the year. Live updates from the opening round of the PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park. A glance at the leaderboard at the 2020 PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park offers variety, from Brooks Koepka trying to make history to Li Haotong and Mike Lorenzo-Vera trying to stun everyone. Then there’s Tiger Woods, who had a miserable putting day Friday in San Francisco that had him fighting to make the cut but maintaining he still has a shot at winning.

Let’s start with Li, who posted a bogey-free 65 early in the day and then returned later, hours after he was finished, to put in some more work.

“He was on the teeing green when I was on the driving range and then he was on the chipping green when I was doing interviews,” said Jason Day, who enters the weekend two shots behind Li. “He’s probably the only guy that rents out a golf course to stay instead of renting out a house this week. I know the guy likes to practice, but man, it’s a major week. Hopefully he knows what he’s doing and I’m sure he does because he’s obviously playing better than us. You know, I’m about to go and do some practice but not as many hours as he’s put in today.”

And what about Lorenzo-Vera? He stood on the ninth tee, his final hole of the day, in sole possession of second place at 7 under. He slipped with a bogey at the last, but he still enters the third round in a six-way tie for second. Lorenzo-Vera has one career victory in an event in which Official World Golf Ranking points were at stake: the 2007 Apulia San Domenico Grand Final, a Challenge Tour tourney. His best finish at the PGA Championship was a tie for 16th, last year at Bethpage Black.

Though Li and Lorenzo-Vera aren’t exactly household names, there are some more familiar faces lurking on the leaderboard. The most notable among those who will enter the weekend with a chance is Brooks Koepka, the two-time defending champion. Koepka sits two shots behind Li as he tries to become the first player in the stroke-play era to win three consecutive PGA Championships.

How far is too far back? Tiger Woods, after a miserable putting day on Friday, stands at even par, eight shots off the pace. Among his 15 major championship victories, the largest 36-hole deficit he has erased is six shots, that coming in the 2005 Masters.

I really struggled with getting the speed of the greens [on Friday],” Woods said. “They looked faster than what they were putting. They were firm coming into the greens, but they weren’t putting as fast as they looked, and then as the day wore on, they got a little more fuzzy and got even slower. I struggled even a little bit more hitting the putts hard enough.

Clearly, if he wants to make any noise on the weekend, he has to clean up his putting. In Thursday’s opening round, he made just under 114 feet worth of putts; on Friday, it was just under 49 feet.

I’m going off early [in Saturday’s third round] and hopefully I can get it going, drive the ball like I did hit my irons a little bit more crisp and be a little bit more aggressive on the putts,” he said.
